NII to advance and expand economic development and policy, STEM education, industry innovation
Advancing clean energy policy, driving STEM education and trades training, and sparking the region’s economic development, the Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) is pleased to announce that Jessica Linthorne has been appointed Interim CEO.
Jessica is poised to lead the organization’s talented team by shaping NII’s mission to support the clean energy transition and the technological innovation required to get there.
“Anyone who has worked with Jessica has seen her passion for leadership and education, and deep knowledge of rural economic development,” said Mike Rencheck, Chair of NII’s Board of Directors and President & CEO of Bruce Power. “These attributes will be instrumental as the nuclear sector—and clean energy as a whole—continues its growth here in the Clean Energy Frontier, across the country and internationally.”
“It is a privilege to lead this incredible team into the next chapter of the Nuclear Innovation Institute,” said NII Interim CEO Jessica Linthorne. “Our team will drive change for the nuclear industry, expand advocacy efforts, increase awareness, and enhance STEM education opportunities. NII’s future will only be limited by our imagination—and we dream big around here.”
Jessica has worked at NII since 2021, most recently as Chief Operating Officer. Previously she held the role of Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Town of Saugeen Shores, where she supported the landing and expansion of many nuclear suppliers and their workforces.
Jessica’s work has been recognized nationally and internationally through multiple awards, including as a top economic development professional in Ontario in 2021. She is well connected to the Canadian tech sector and innovation space through past work in Waterloo region, and her passion for networking and peer mentorship has been showcased by Forbes.
The NII Board of Directors would like to thank former President and CEO Bruce Wallace for his service to the organization over the past years and wish him well in his future endeavours.
