Nominations now open for 2024 Clean Energy Frontier Program Awards

Second-annual awards recognize outstanding contributions to the local economy and clean energy sector

The Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the second-annual Clean Energy Frontier Program Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to the local economy and clean energy sector. These awards celebrate the achievements and dedication of individuals, teams or organizations who are advancing clean energy innovation, economic growth and community engagement in the region.

“The Clean Energy Frontier Program Awards are a chance to recognize the many individuals and organizations that support our region’s clean energy ecosystem,” said NII’s Chad Richards, Senior Director, Bruce Power Nexus Research Centre. “Their work drives growth, supports a thriving local clean energy sector, and inspires other members of our communities to take part in a cleaner, more resilient future.”

The three categories for this year’s Clean Energy Frontier Program Awards are:

  • Paulette Peirol Memorial Award for Excellence in Economic Development: This award recognizes an economic development professional or team that has shown a profound commitment to the region's clean energy sector. The recipient will have demonstrated excellence through initiatives that promote regional economic growth, foster innovation, and advance sustainability in the clean energy industry.

  • Emerging Leader in Clean Energy and Innovation Award: This award is dedicated to a young leader under the age of 40 who has shown exceptional leadership in driving clean energy initiatives within their community. This emerging leader exemplifies dedication to the clean energy sector through impactful projects, advocacy, and community engagement.

  • Community Clean Energy Champion Award: This award celebrates a local business, not-for-profit organization, or association that has shown outstanding leadership by fostering partnerships, engaging the community, and advocating for regional clean energy advancement. The recipient will have demonstrated a commitment to collaboration, awareness-building, and innovative projects that strengthen the regional clean energy ecosystem.

The vision of the Clean Energy Frontier Program Awards began with the establishment of the Paulette Peirol Memorial Award for Excellence in Economic Development at the 2024 Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) Conference.

The inaugural award was given posthumously to well respected Brockton economic and community development professional Paulette Peirol in recognition of her dedication to economic development in the clean energy sector. This memorial award will continue to honour local leaders who exemplify her commitment to regional growth, innovation and sustainability.

The Clean Energy Frontier Program invites community members and colleagues to nominate individuals, teams, or organizations who meet the criteria and have made significant contributions to the clean energy sector.
