Municipal Innovation Council signs on as NII’s newest Friend

Shared goals in workforce development and finding new efficiencies

The Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) welcomes the Municipal Innovation Council (MIC) as its newest Friend of NII, agreeing to work together to drive projects and programs for the broad benefit of the region’s local communities.

This new strategic collaboration agreement will help the two organizations advance mutual goals in key areas: from working together on regional initiatives like workforce development, education and policy projects to engaging in one another’s events and activities, enhancing the reach of both groups.

“This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to driving innovation and excellence in our region,” said Jessica Linthorne, NII President & CEO. “NII already works with municipal colleagues in areas like economic development, workforce initiatives and clean energy topics, and we look forward to strengthening these relationships through the Municipal Innovation Council.”

“Building and strengthening relationships, such as through this MOU, allow us to leverage expertise and experience to best scale our impact into emergent areas of opportunity,” said Kara Van Myall, Chair of the Municipal Innovation Council. “By furthering an open collaboration with NII, we are able to pursue solutions to inefficiencies, building smarter and stronger communities.”

Friends of NII are not-for-profit and public sector organizations—such as industry groups, post-secondary and research institutions—that share NII’s mission to embrace new thinking and technologies to improve performance in the energy industry. As a Friend of NII, the MIC can receive support from NII’s team for projects, programs and research initiatives that relate to NII’s mission and objectives.
