nex·us (noun) a meeting point, a connection, where diverse ideas, disciplines and innovations converge.
The Bruce Power Nexus Research Centre is a place of collaboration—a hub where industry leaders, policymakers, scientists and communities come together to find solutions to the most pressing issues of our time.
Funded by Bruce Power, our mandate includes:
Policy research and government engagement
Leading the way in demonstrating the fundamental connection between nuclear energy and decarbonization.
We know that achieving net-zero carbon emissions is one of the greatest challenges of our generation. Nexus will help create policy that isn’t just aspirational—it’s actionable, rooted in real science and focused on achieving lasting impact.
Economic development and ecosystem development
Nexus will play a critical role in supporting local ecosystem development in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties and local Indigenous communities—demonstrating the economic benefits of clean energy and advocating for our region’s clean energy supply chain.
This is about more than just research—this is about jobs, opportunities, and building a thriving local economy powered by clean energy.
Environmental and human health research
We recognize that the health of our environment is deeply connected to the health of our communities. Through cutting-edge research, we will provide actionable intelligence on how clean energy impacts both the planet and human well-being.
Our commitment to environmental sustainability and human health will guide our efforts as we work toward fostering a cleaner, healthier future for generations to come.
“This is the Nexus where innovation will meet action, where data will drive policy, and where research will create tangible, meaningful change. Together, we can make a lasting impact—to shape the future of energy, to strengthen our economy, and to protect our environment for future generations.”
Chad Richards, Sr. Director, Bruce Power Nexus Research Centre
What does becoming net zero actually mean? And how do different strategies help get us there? Take a moment to do the math on net zero with NII.
We’re driving community-based initiatives that will help us achieve our goals in the fight against climate change while also building up the knowledge and experience needed to succeed in a net-zero future.
Through a partnership with the Nuclear Innovation Institute, Bruce Power’s Carbon Offset Coalition will fund the development of carbon offset projects in our local communities.
